Background

What is TSI Certification?

TSI (Technical Specifications for Interoperability) are mandatory EU regulations that define the technical and operational requirements for railway systems. All rolling stock, subsystems and components operating on the Trans-European Rail Network must comply with the applicable TSIs. Obtaining TSI certification — also known as homologation — is a complex, multi-stage process involving Notified Bodies, documentation, testing and formal approval from the relevant National Safety Authority. Non-compliance can result in vehicle rejection, significant delays and costly redesign. Our consultants have guided dozens of manufacturers through this process across multiple EU member states and the UK.
